When the CENTURY 21® brand was founded in 1971, Indianapolis, Bloomington, and the surrounding areas looked quite different than they do today. Things were just beginning to flourish. The Indianapolis Museum of Art had just opened the year before, Indiana Black Expo began that year, and the Convention Center and Indiana Repertory Theatre would emerge shortly after. Indianapolis’ population was around 711,000 in 1971, while Bloomington, Indiana was less than half the population of what it is today at just over 43,000. Tremendous growth was just beginning, and the CENTURY® brand had its eyes set on changing the world of real estate as we knew it.
