City on the Rise – What You Should Know About Bloomington, Indiana

Bloomington, Indiana has been getting a lot of accolades lately and it’s easy to see why.  The city of Bloomington stood out to judges in the 2021 TechPoint Mira Awards and earned the Rising Tech City. Bloomington is a hub for innovation, and the city has excelled in creating a quality of life that is attracting new people to the region. 

Bloomington has been named one of the Best Cities for Entrepreneurs and has frequented many Best Places to Live lists.  Home to Indiana University, the city reaps the rewards of having Big 10 basketball games, research facilities, and a theater program.  This tight-knit community has the feeling of a small town, but with so much to do!

A mix of urban and suburban, you’ll find a robust schedule of community events, great shopping, and eating along a 60-block district of galleries, theaters, music venues, restaurants, and more known as BEAD (Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District). Fun fact: His Holiness the Dalai Lama was served at an authentic Tibetan restaurant in Bloomington when he visited. 

For those seeking a quiet respite, nature gives way to many outdoor activities. Bloomington is near the Hoosier National Forest, Lake Monroe, and boasts more than 10 parks that give residents the opportunity to experience the beauty of all four seasons.

For avid professional sports fans seeking bigger action, Indianapolis is just 50 miles north of Bloomington, and about an hour drive, which allows for an easy commute to watch professional sporting events. The Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, Indiana Fever, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home to the largest single-day sporting event – the Indy 500 – are all within an easy drive.
