Geist refers to the area surrounding Geist Lake, one of three reservoirs in Indianapolis. Geist is a popular destination for family fun in the summer, on weekends, and throughout the year.
Just 12 miles from downtown Indianapolis in Lawrence and Fall Creek Township, Geist Lake is an expansive 1,900 acres and holds over seven billion gallons of water. Though the lake itself is rather shallow (ten feet or less), residents and visitors can enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, and water sports. Geist is home to the Indianapolis Yacht Club, the Indianapolis Sailing Club, and the Dragon Boat Racing Team.
Geist is well known as an affluent community. Over 2,200 luxurious lakefront properties line the lake, offering beautiful views and relaxing outdoor dock areas. Though most attractions revolve around the lake itself, the active Geist community also has access to nearby stores and services. Spanning Marion, Hamilton, and Hancock counties, the community offerings are varied and many.
