- Marion County is divided into 9 Civil Townships as follows: Center, Decatur, Franklin, Lawrence, Perry, Pike, Warren, Washington and Wayne.
- Marion County was created by an act of the Legislature on December 31, 1821, and began its formal existence April 1, 1822.
- Indianapolis is the County Seat as well as the State Capitol.
- According to the Society of Indiana Pioneers, an individual was a pioneer of our county if they resided here on or before December 31, 1830.
